From Darkness to Light
ADVENT and the 12 Days of Christmas
38-day Contemplation Series
“You beings on earth who are in deep slumber, awaken! Who among you has labored to run darkness into light and bitterness into sweetness?” Stop sleeping! Wake up! What are you waiting for? the Zohar

MESSAGE – Naming the Darkness
Darkness is not failure. It is the place where truth waits to be noticed.
Sit quietly for a few minutes. Gently name one inner or outer struggle you are carrying. Acknowledge it without judgment. Then release it all.
12 Powers
The Power of Release
In our Advent Booklet, today, Rev. Bill Englehart reminds us that when we are striving for something greater, we release the lesser fears and anxieties that hold us back. When we do this, we can reach new heights.
QUOTES
Hebrew Bible: “Out of the depths I cry to you.” (Psalm 130:1)
Buddhism: “To understand suffering is to begin the path.” (Dhammapada)
Islam: “God does not burden a soul beyond what it can bear.” (Qur’an 2:286)
ACTIVITY
Entering the Dark – Sit in stillness for 5 minutes. Notice what feels heavy, unclear, or hidden within you. Do not analyze. Simply acknowledge its presence. Then just release it all.
Closing Reflection
The darkness was not an absence, but a womb.
The light is not an arrival, but a way of seeing.
Do some journaling if you like. Listen to the meditation/song (above) at least once.
On this day, I affirm …
I release the claims of my mortal mind to make room for
my spiritual nature to express.
Closing Blessing
May the light we have touched guide our steps.
May the wisdom of many paths deepen our compassion.
May we walk forward together—from darkness into light.

ON A PERSONAL NOTE
Personally, I find that it is important to have a focus or an intention behind any endeavour.
Spending time with the intention to care for my mental health and spiritual well-being is always an effort. At the same time it can be fun! Reading short, warm, and enlightening messages and affirmations, doing a short task or listening to a piece of music take only a few minutes a day but it makes a gigantic difference in my life. During these few minutes a day, I peek out of the darkness, the world full of woe, into the Light: into the Peace, Joy, Love and Warmth of the Divine Presence.
I am going to walk this Christmas journey contemplating on the Divine Light and enjoying the sense of Peace, Joy and Love that it comes with.
