The Twelfth Night
The Twelfth Night, celebrated on the night of Jan. 5, is considered the end of the Christmas season. Cultures, like the French and Spanish, celebrate the Feast of the Epiphany with a king’s cake, a coffee cake with purple, green and yellow icing to commemorate the visit by the magi to the Christ child. In western cultures, the King’s Cake is associated with Mardi Gras, and the season of Carnival. Churches also vary in their celebration of the Epiphany; Protestant churches celebrate it for an entire season, lasting until the season of Lent, while many Catholics celebrate it as a single day.
MESSAGE
Rev Kudlik tells us that the important message for me in the story of the three Magi and their 12-day journey to the new- born Jesus is Oneness. In my understanding, the three kings represent various levels of our human consciousness. I have suggested one interpretation before and now I am offering another one wrapped up in the short story of the Magi. I can see the three levels of our human consciousness – that are called: conscious, unconscious, and subconscious – as the three kings journeying together being led by the brightest Star in the sky. They make an arduous journey together during which they learn about each other, they even become friendly and, in certain ways, become aligned with each other. They arrive in the middle of the night. Upon their arrival they are in awe. They bow and acknowledge the greatness that they see in Christ, a higher level of Consciousness. Reaching Christ Consciousness is their goal that they have now arrived at and finally unite with. Their separation ends and in Oneness they find ultimate Peace and Loving.
These 12 days are a sacred inner journey of unfolding, learning, and becoming. When we come face to face with the vastness of who we truly are in the Christ Consciousness – as we call Oneness in Unity – we automatically become devout and grateful because we suddenly see ourselves in a new Light.
PRAYER
“May I be safe.”
“May I be peaceful.”
“May all beings be peaceful.”
ACTIVITY
Dwelling in Illumination – Sit in stillness and imagine yourself bathed in light. Allow it to settle into every place that once felt shadowed.
Closing Reflection
The darkness was not an absence, but a womb.
The light is not an arrival, but a way of seeing.
Do some journaling if you like. Listen to the meditation/song (above) at least once.
Prayer of the Day
I rest in the truth of Oneness.
There is only one Presence and one Power, God the Good, active in all.
I am one with this Presence, whole and complete.
I honour the Divine in every person, every being, and every part of creation.
In this awareness, I live in harmony, guided by love, and grounded in peace.
We are One.
Closing Blessing
May the light we have touched guide our steps.
May the wisdom of many paths deepen our compassion.
May we walk forward together—from darkness into light.

ON A PERSONAL NOTE
Personally, I find that it is important to have a focus or an intention behind any endeavour.
Spending time with the intention to care for my mental health and spiritual well-being is always an effort. At the same time it can be fun! Reading short, warm, and enlightening messages and affirmations, doing a short task or listening to a piece of music take only a few minutes a day but it makes a gigantic difference in my life. During these few minutes a day, I peek out of the darkness, the world full of woe, into the Light: into the Peace, Joy, Love and Warmth of the Divine Presence.
I am going to walk this Christmas journey contemplating on the Divine Light and enjoying the sense of Peace, Joy and Love that it comes with.
